I am a native New Jerseyan having grown up in suburban Monmouth County. After meeting my future husband at Rutgers, we decided to reside in Hunterdon County. I could not be more pleased with our decision! Califon is a lovely place to live. It is hilly and green with many places to enjoy walking, running, or riding bikes. I have friendly neighbors, a beautiful park to play, and a fabulous school where my children learn and I teach. I know that my family does “belong here”.
I have been married to Mr. Medea, a landscape architect, since 1995. We have three daughters, Gwyneth, Grace, and Gabby who were born in 2000, 2002, and 2005 respectively. Being their mom is one of the greatest joys of my life!
There are many things that make me special. I am a wife, a mother, and a teacher, but I am many other things as well. First, I am a vegetarian and have been since I was 14 years old. I collect vegetarian cookbooks, read them, then experiment with new recipes.
I am a runner. I began running for exercise after my daughter Grace was born, but soon realized the meditative, relaxing benefits it provides as well. I am hooked on the sport. It is how I start each day!
I am an avid reader. During the school year, I read mostly fourth and fifth grade novels and texts, but during the summer months I spend time at the beach and indulge in a variety of good books. I find it to be an imaginative and peaceful experience.
As I have already said, I am a mom. I love doing “mom things” like being my daughters’ Girl Scout leader and helping with Sunday school. I am very lucky to be able to spend so much time with my children!
I am thrilled to have to opportunity to get to know each child this school year. I am looking forward to sharing stories from my life with my students, and listening to the stories they choose to share with me. Fourth grade is going to be so much fun!
